The D400 Industrial was developed specifically for high wind sites. Mechanically, the D400 Industrial is broadly similar to the standard D400, but uses a strengthened yaw shaft to withstand the increased with loading. The major issue with turbines in sustained hight winds is internal heating. The D400 is capable of producting 750 watts in wind speeds of above 20 metres per second, and for 12 Volt machine this can mean a charging current of 60 amps.
